AnimalSave operates with minimal paid staff. The majority of our workforce is made up of volunteers. Whether you like to cuddle kittens, help out at the Thrift Store, foster rescued animals, answer phones, or just about anything else, there is a place for you at AnimalSave. Over 55? Register with RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) to receive mileage reimbursement and other benefits when you volunteer with AnimalSave. Phone 530-271-0255 for more information.
We are always in need of volunteers and can find a job for you if you have the time. The list of Current Volunteer Opportunities shows our urgent needs, but please don’t hesitate to call if you have photography skills, or want to help out at a particular event, or just have a few hours to spare one day. Current Volunteer Opportunities
Here’s a list of positions that we need to fill, and tasks that you can help us with:
- Cat Adoption Room Attendant. Sunday afternoons. Requirements: Over 16 years old. Description: This is a great way to interact with our cat adoption room residents. Clean cages, wash dishes, give food and water. The kitties will thank you for making their environment clean and healthy.
- Unloading bags of food from trucks – 4 people – URGENTLY NEEDED!!! Tuesdays, 1:00pm. Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds. Description: Each week, AnimalSave sends a truck to the PetSmart distribution center in Reno to pick up pet food. When the truck returns to Grass Valley, we need people to unload the bags into our storage shed behind the thrift store.
- Changing air filters at AnimalSave Thrift Store. Once every 3 months. Requirements: Bring a 12 foot ladder. Description: We like to keep the air conditioning working efficiently at our thrift store and offices. We need a reliable volunteer to change the air filters 4 times a year. The exact day is not important. It doesn’t take too long and would be a big help.
- Instrument Cleaning & Laundry for Spay & Neuter Clinic. Thursday, Friday or Saturday.1:30pm. Must be at least 18 years old. Description: As spay and neuter surgeries are completed, we need someone to collect the laundry and instruments. Wash, dry and fold the laundry. Begin the cleansing process for the surgical instruments.
- Spay/Neuter Clinic Telephones (Backup). Work from home, approx. 8 hours per week. At least 18 years old. Description: Call Spay/neuter clinic answering machine to pick up messages. Answer questions about spay/neuter clinic procedures. You would be trained, then would fill in during vactions or as needed.
